Men's Football

Yes

The pride of Rathmines, Portobello are a junior football team located in the heart of Dublin 6, just minutes from the city centre. Well-established on the county's Gaelic football scene, Porto are a welcoming club with players from all over Ireland. Kerry, Donegal and Mayo ex-pats feature strongly, but the four corners are covered with the current squad featuring men from Dublin, Sligo, Tyrone, Tipperary, Longford and Wexford. Not to mention our latest foreign recruit, all the way from Dubai. No matter your age, fitness or football experience, you'll be welcome at a Porto training session.

Why join our team?

With a mix of experienced veterans, relocated club players, Portobello stalwarts and curious first-timers, this is a team for everybody. All skill and fitness levels are welcome down to training and if you enjoy it, there will be opportunities during the season to taste competitive action. Cheaper than the gym and more competitive than an astro league - Porto is the ideal way to get fit, stay in shape and have some craic. Desperately close to promotion a number of times in the last few years, there is a determination in 2016 to reach Division 7, which should make for an interesting season.

Training

Training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday night at our pitch on Leinster Road, Rathmines. Sessions begin at 7.30pm sharp with everyone giving a solid 60 minutes effort and finishing at 8.30pm on the button. Under the direction of Kerryman John O'Donoghue, training is an intense mix of fitness, core work and an ever-changing combination of ball drills.

Matches

Competing in Division 8 of the Dublin Adult League, games are normally played on Sunday mornings, with the odd midweek evening game during the summer. With games roughly every fortnight, the season runs from late February to September.
